We understand that sometimes life gets in the way of our learning plans and you may need to take a break from Plain English.
If you have a monthly subscription you can pause your subscription for up to 6 months without losing your current price.
Good to know: Plain English monthly payments never go up for existing members. Although we may adjust pricing in the future for new members, we never raise the price for existing members.
Therefore, if you just want to take a break, it's safer to pause your account for a few months instead of cancel. If you cancel, the price may be higher when you decide to rejoin.
How to pause your account
Log into your account
Visit the Contact page
Select "Pause my subscription payments" from the dropdown
Please send your request to pause your payments at least 48 hours before your next subscription payment is scheduled so we can process your request on time.
You’ll receive an email confirming that your account has been paused. You will have access to your subscription features until your next billing date. At that point, you will lose access to all content and you will not receive new updates to the fast version on your podcast app.
Resume your subscription
You can resume your subscription any time within the 6-month period directly from your account page. To resume your subscription:
Log into your account
Go to your account page and choose the "Subscriptions" tab
Select "Resume" from the right-hand column
PayPal customers: If you pay with PayPal, your subscription will resume on the day of the month in which you first signed up. (If you joined on the 5th of the month and resume on the 20th, your next payment and site access will begin on the 5th of the next month.)
If you pay by credit card, your subscription and site access will restart right away.
6 month limit
After 6 months of being on pause, our system will automatically cancel your account if you haven’t resumed (we'll send you a few reminders so you don't forget).
Also note
Pausing is only available for monthly memberships
You can only pause your account once per year.
