The following features include your name:

Who can see your name

The writing and live call features at Plain English are only open to members at the Plus+ level or those on a free trial. Therefore, if you are a Plus+ member or a free trial member, your comments and practice sentences will be visible only to other Plus+ and free trial members.

Nothing you write or post at Plain English is visible to the public and nothing appears in search engine results.

What is visible

When you post something in the community at Plain English, your name (as you registered it) and your avatar appear next to your comments.

Your name

Your name is typically your first and last name, as you entered them during the registration process. If you want to change the way your name appears, send us a note and we'll gladly change it for you.

Avatar

Plain English uses avatars from Gravatar. If you would like to change the photo or cartoon that appears by your name, you can change it (or upload a picture) at Gravatar.com. Please use the same email address in Gravatar as you use at Plain English.

Live calls

On live calls, we'll ask you to use your first name and tell us generally about where you live (country, region) to help with the discussion. You'll never have to disclose your last name or other personal details on live calls.
